Prime Minister Modi's Visit to Sri Lanka

On 8 April 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka and held a significant meeting with Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake in Colombo. During the visit, PM Modi was conferred with the 'Mithra Vibhushana,' Sri Lanka's highest civilian honor. The two nations signed an agreement to develop Trincomalee as an energy hub and jointly inaugurated the Sampur solar power project, aimed at boosting Sri Lanka’s clean energy capacity.

New Policy on Foreign Funds

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced a new policy regarding foreign funds obtained through the prior permission route under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. These funds will now be valid for four years. This policy aims to streamline the process for NGOs and other groups receiving foreign contributions for social, educational, religious, economic, and cultural purposes.

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana Completes 10 Years

India celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) on 8 April 2025. Launched in April 2015, the scheme provides collateral-free institutional credit to non-corporate, non-farm micro and small enterprises.
