NYC Benchmarking, Energy Audit, and Retrocomissioning Laws

New York City is the largest urban area in the United States, as well as the most populous city through a Census Bureau estimation. It is located within the Tri-State area of New York City along with Newark, Jersey City, and other cities. It is also considered to be more known as an iconic destination on nearly every local and global employment. This causes major development to happen on both residential and commercial areas which tend to be a big challenge for regulators to ensure that the edifice are at their proper size. This brings about NYC Building Benchmarking Program (NYCBBP) which is a program that is designed to regulate building size in Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn by ensuring that buildings do not exceed their maximum project size. Due to the high number of development happening in NY, policymakers did not want a repeat of what happened in Chicago back in the 19th century when too much building happened so fast that it may trigger problems for growth. In short, NYCBBP allows developers to build bigger but within limits to preserve public space and open up views.
