The net migration of New Zealand has seen a huge reversal, with a gain of almost 65,000 people in 2023 that follows the relaxation of COVID-19-related restrictions. It also follows the changes related to immigration settings. However, the net migration loss of almost 23,000 Kiwi citizens is something to mark.

The major contributors to net migration used to come from India, China, South Africa, and the Philippines. The statistics also reveal that almost sixty-three percent of migrants arrived in the country on work or visit visas. The Government has been slowly emphasizing the growth in net migration figures ahead of the budget.
