Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Draws Over 50,000 Players on Launch Day

Marvel Rivals’ closed beta test has quickly attracted a massive player base, with over 50,000 users logging in on the very first day. Earlier this year, NetEase Games announced its collaboration with Marvel to develop a 6v6 superhero shooter that combines the fast-paced action of Overwatch with the iconic heroes and villains from the Marvel universe.

As of now, Marvel Rivals boasts 21 confirmed playable characters, each equipped with unique attacks and abilities inspired by the comics and films. While there is no official full launch date for Marvel Rivals yet, players have had two opportunities to experience the game so far. The first was a closed alpha test in May, which allowed participants to unlock permanent rewards, including an alternate Scarlet Witch character skin. The current closed beta test began on July 23 and will run until August 5, expanding access to players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, in addition to PC.

According to Steam Charts, the beta peaked at 52,515 players on its first day, with average active player counts ranging between 30,000 and 35,000.
