Immigration New Zealand has requested the Security Intelligence Service to speed up the national security checks. Those checks include those that have remained pending for more than nine months. This is amid a surge in residence visa checks, which have increased to a high percent.
According to the SIS, the time has come to disclose the average processing time. It has confirmed the working on a service level agreement with INZ to formalize timeframes. Almost ninety percent of residence applications will be completed by almost ninety percent within a few weeks. Delays occur due to incomplete applications that get returned to INZ for additional information.
