This option is typically chosen if the ball was heading toward the boundary, and the fielding captain feels that it would have gone for a four or a six if the supporter had not caught it. 

There are some cases where the umpires may intervene and make the decision themselves. For example, if the ball was hit so high that it is difficult to determine whether the supporter caught the ball or not, the umpires may rule that the batsman is not out. Similarly, if the ball was heading towards the boundary and would have gone for a six or a four, the umpires may rule that the batsman is not out. 

It is important to note that the decision to accept or decline the catch is entirely up to the fielding captain. If they choose to accept the catch, it is final, and the batsman is out. If they decline the catch, the game continues without any penalty for the batsman.
