The point-based resident visa closed to new applications since 2020 finally re-opens. It is expected that the skilled migrant category will soon resumeuinder the current settings to attract more international workers. The first selection will be at 160 points, and subsequent selections will be at an increased threshold of 180 points.
Some important points to note are that the INZ will be sending all EOIs at the current threshold point of 160. The point may increase to 180 within a few months. People already having an EOI in the pool can easily continue with it or withdraw from it. EOIs submitted before 2022 may expire and may not be re-selected.
