The art deco style building was built in the 1930s, initially as a residential apartment building. During the Second World War, the building was requisitioned by the British and used as army barracks. After the war, most of the residents who were forced to leave had settled elsewhere and the building was converted into a hotel and has been welcoming guests for over 75 years since.
