Cash App and Venmo are two of the most popular P2P transfer apps, with many users having an account with both apps. So the common question is, what are the ways to transfer money from Cash App to Venmo without a card?

You can’t transfer money from Cash App to Venmo without using some type of card. While both apps are great for sending your friends some money, they are only able to send between their users.

If you have Venmo and Cash App and want to find a way to transfer money between your accounts, there are some options. I will say they aren’t as straightforward as you may like.

How to Transfer Money From Cash App to Venmo Using a Separate Bank Account

While you can’t transfer money directly from Cash App to Venmo, you can use a connected bank account to facilitate the whole thing. If you have an account with a traditional bank, like Chase Bank or Wells Fargo, you can send money from Cash App to Venmo easily.

First, you’ll need to connect your bank account to your Cash App and Venmo accounts. You can do this with your debit card, which I would recommend, or with your account’s routing and account numbers.

Once your account is connected to Cash App, you can transfer your money within Cash App itself. Start by opening the app and clicking on the house icon in the lower left-hand corner. From there, you’ll want to click on “Cash Out” at the top of the screen.

Clicking on Cash Out will prompt Cash App to ask you how much you’d like to withdraw and to confirm they have the right account to send it to. Once you’ve decided how much you want to transfer, you can finalize “Cashing Out”.

The transfer should take about 1-3 business days to reach your account unless you want to pay a fee and use the instant transfer option. Using the instant transfer option costs anywhere between .5% – 1.75%, with a minimum fee of $0.25, and reaches your account within moments.

After you’ve received the initial transfer from Cash App in your bank account, you’re halfway to getting it to Venmo.

Venmo works a little differently though, and you can’t just request money from a bank account into your Venmo account unless you’ve applied and been approved for a Venmo debit card. In short, you can only transfer money on Venmo to someone else without having a card.

If you’re just trying to load up your Venmo balance without the Venmo debit card, you could try to send the money to a friend you trust and have them send it to you back. It’s free — a little complicated — but there isn’t a charge. That is the easiest way of getting money from Cash App to Venmo without a card. If you have a card for either one of these apps, it’ll make your transfer life a whole lot easier.

Can You Link Your Cash App Card to Venmo?

Adding the Cash App Cash Card to your Venmo account is a great way to transfer money between the two. With the Cash Card, you can draw directly from your Cash App balance within Venmo, essentially connecting the two transfer apps.

To connect the two accounts, you’ll first have to get a Cash App Cash Card. From the app, click on the card logo in the bottom left-hand portion of the screen. Click “Get Free Cash Card” to begin the process. Cash App will first ask you what type of card design you’d like to receive. You have a couple of free options — white and black — along with some premium options. Starting at $50, you have the options of Chameleon Metal and Black Metal.

The designs are sleek, and you can customize them further within Cash App. The important thing here is getting the card, so let me try not to get too far from the topic at hand.

Once you’ve gotten the Cash Card, you should be able to see the full numbers from within the Cash App itself. You don’t need to wait for the physical card in the mail before you start connecting it with Venmo.

Go to Venmo and click on your profile in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. If you have a profile picture on Venmo, you’ll see it here. From your profile, you’ll be able to add your Cash App Cash Card with the “Add a bank or card” button.

Click Add, then click “Card” when asked between adding a card or bank account. Venmo makes note that they charge 3% when sending money with a credit card, but the Cash Card is a debit card so you don’t have to worry about that.

Once you’ve added your Cash Card to Venmo you can withdraw funds from it whenever you want. Cash App won’t allow you to overdraw the Cash Card, so make sure you have the right amount of funds available before starting a transfer.

Can You Use Instant Transfer for Cash App to Venmo?

No, you can’t use Cash App’s instant transfer to send money to Venmo. The only place where you can use Instant Transfer is in your bank account. Cash App allows users to send funds to each other instantly, for free too. If you want to transfer money from your Cash App balance to your bank account, however, you’ll need to wait 1-3 business days before you receive it.  That’s where instant transfer comes in. Cash App will send your funds to your bank account for free if you’re willing to wait a couple of days, or they’ll send it instantly for a small fee.

For a minimum of $0.25 and between 0.5% and 1.25%, you can send your money back to your bank instantly. This can’t work for Venmo, as your Venmo account doesn’t have a routing and account number for the instant transfer to connect with.  From your bank account, however, you can transfer the money to Venmo. If you need to pay someone else on Venmo, you can transfer your Cash App balance to your bank account using Instant Transfer to have funds to draw from.

Can You Transfer Money From Cash App to Paypal?

Paypal owns Venmo, so they function in very similar ways. You’re able to send and receive money fairly quickly using either of the transfer apps, but only if you’re one of their customers. Ultimately, you can’t transfer money from Cash App to Paypal directly. If you want to transfer money between the two, your fastest options are to either connect a separate bank account to both apps and use it as a middle-man or to apply for a Cash Card. If you use a separate bank account, you can transfer money from Cash App to it by using the Cash Out feature. The money may take a couple of business days, but you can pay a fee to send it faster if you need to move the money immediately.
