A New Study From IIT Bhubaneswar Shows That Urbanization Boosts Night-Time Warming in Indian Cities

According to a new study conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, more people living in cities are making nights substantially warmer in over 140 major Indian cities. A research comparing these metropolitan areas to their non-urban counterparts discovered that temperatures soared 60% higher at night in cities. This was primarily due to the urban heat island (UHI) effect. The temperature increased the greatest in major cities such as Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Rajkot. Other cities, like as Delhi-NCR and Pune, also experienced significant shifts.
