Possible Defenses to a Concealed Weapons Charge

Even if you have a right to carry a concealed firearm or weapon, simply moving it from one place to another can cause you legal trouble. Traveling from one part of the state to another may invalidate your permit based on where you are.  

It is illegal in Virginia to carry a firearm in an airport terminal or a place of worship, while in service. Specific counties and municipalities restrict concealed carry permits in any public space, including:

• Community or any other recreational center

• Buildings such as libraries and courthouses

• Public events
